The Carrera GP shock is made to closer tolerances than any other mono-tube racing shock in the WORLD! Even 1/2 step valvings do not have overlapping tolerances. In addition you can rebuild the Carrera GP the FIRST time to closer tolerances than any other shock in the world! 95% of the GPs come out within tolerance the FIRST TIME!
The GP has less moving parts than twin-tube shocks thanks to its floating piston design. It has a bigger piston (1-7/8" = 48mm) which flows more oil. This means more damping is possible; it is more easily controllable and it runs cooler. Closer tolerances and zero fade provide more consistent performance lap after lap and win after win.
The unique GP piston design is the "HEART" of this shock. It has superior low and high-speed control allowing virtually any shape response curve to be easily attained.
The unique thread design of the GP looks "fine" (slow), but is actually super fast (as it takes 4 threads at a time!) providing 1/4" of movement for every one turn of the coil-over nut.
The GP's one-piece forged body is stronger, lighter and cools better than any other mono-tube racing shock. It has a hard-anodized and Teflon™ coated cylinder wall that will never wear out. It's full rebuildable, revalveable and very easy to work on.
You can get your GP with practically any valving combination you can think of and in 1/2" stroke length increments. The original 90-91 series 'GP' is non-adjustable. The new 94-95 series 'GPA' is Rebound OR Compression adjustable. Also, you can get GP shocks with several options (see the links below). All 'GP' shocks are rebuildable but 90-91 series 'GP' shocks CAN BE REBUILT AT THE TRACK in a matter of minutes allowing you to get back on track quicker! |
